Hello friends,
Well we finished our first run back from our 2 week break and it went really well. We did cleveland, virginia beach, holmdel new jersey, and DC. Good run over all...our crowds werent the biggest but they were fun crowds with alot of energy which makes it better.
Let's see, let's see...updates...
well, on this post i think im gonna talk about some cool stuff i have been learning about my job and through my job but also through some other stuff on the road...well, after talking with the one and only emily stocks about the book Pursuit of God by AW Tozer, which i read a while back, i decided to start re reading....seriously folks, its one of the most challenging but amazing books ever! one thing that he talks about in the book is actually in the first chapter, he says ...
"We pursue God because, and only because, He has first put an urge within us that spurs us to the pursuit. `No man can come to me,' said our Lord, `except the Father which hath sent me draw him,' and it is by this very prevenient drawing that God takes from us every vestige of credit for he act of coming. The impulse to pursue God originates with God, but the outworking of that impulse is our following hard after Him; and all the time we are pursuing Him we are already in His hand: `Thy right hand upholdeth me.' In this divine `upholding' and human `following' there is no contradiction. All is of God, for as Von Hugel teaches, God is always previous."
thats really been in my mind alot....God is always previous...it applies to every single thing in my life. when i worry about the future, God is always previous, He always knows what is going to happen...when i screw up, God is always previous, he knew i would and is ready to forgive me...when i am following hard after Him and seeking to do what He desires, God is always previous, he put that desire in me. wow...thats awesome. my mind has just been meditating on this thought and kind of trying to grasp it.
Third Day has a resident road pastor on the road with them named Nigel. He is from Whales and flies over here periodically to travel with them and lead devotions for them. Well when he is with us on the tour, he leads a tour devotion once a week. this week was awesome...he talked about the beatitudes, and the sermon on the mount. He made an illustration having to do with the speeches that are all over the place with the election going on right now. If there were a list of the greatest speeches of all time, the sermon on the mount would most likely be at the top of the list... tons of people came from all over to hear what this Jesus had to say...but more importantly, just like with the presidential nominees, people wanted to see if He lived what He was speaking...walking the walk. if there was reporter who followed Him after the sermon on the mount, they would have found no flaw or contradictions to what he had said, unlike any other great speaker of all time. We are called to make what He said truth to people who are skeptical. I am the person that people say "oh he says he believes what Jesus said, let see if he actually lives it." its the challenge that we as believers are called to. We are not perfect, but we are the only hint of Jesus that alot of people will ever see, so we are to strive to live up to that!
I know this was more of a personal post, rather than "oh man, jon talked to me!" but its where i am and i hope that if youre reading this that you know how important this stuff is to me and want to know about it! ...oh, and i did get to hang out with jon the other night on the golf cart...t was pretty sweet! :)
well were on a 2 day break in nashville right now and we leave tonight at 11pm for birmingham, raleigh( where i get to see stocks and walker! woo!), atlanta, and back here for the nashville show...
God is really starting to open up doors for job possibilities after this tour so please be praying that God continues to open those doors and that the next steps are as awesome as this has been, which i know it will be...its really exciting!
